My most rewarding community project to date was with Bali life foundation. Working with marginalized women in Bali. The basis of this project is teaching and supporting women caught in the poverty trap to make for sale a variety of items. To this day, 7 years on and 3 of the women continue to run their own business Using skills learned with me. The satisfaction of knowing this is beyond description.
Working with Voice Works Plus, a mixed ability theatre group is an ongoing costuming project that I enjoy. I have a soft spot particularly for people with Down's Syndrome having grown up with a beloved brother who is Downs. Contributing to this community providing outlets for differently abled people. I also learn continually from Director Maggie Wild West.
It is vital that our children are taught and encouraged to engage creatively. As Artist in Residence with the children at Mosman Park Primary School whole school program over a number of weeks, children gained new skills in thinking, manual dexterity and working together.
my parting gift at greenschool was leading a 5 day workshop with 25 students. The brief was to design and create 40 costumes from community rubbish for an original musical production about Plastic. The production was so successful it went to Paris for youth climate summit.
My involvement with Green School in Bali was such a valuable experience. I was also middle school art teacher for Bali lighthouse school. I have also lead workshops for highschool, univesity and teachers Professional development. Id say there is not a group I cannot work with. from Artist in residence whole schol Mosman Park primary school request fro pritmaking, sculpture. to Red feathers and a hula skirt community classes. and greenschool art and drama participation. I have been integral in creating performance, fashion parades, hair and costumes for these and many other events. I have directed, guided, you name it.
Employed by Zedz hair and beauty to inform the staff of environmental issues of the world and relating to their workplace. New systems were integrated for all consumables.
